- What Is Magic Academy? Magic Academy is a beginner-friendly event series that teaches new players how to play Magic: The Gathering. Through guided sessions participants get hands-on experience with support from staff or mentors in a fun, low-pressure environment. Attendees new to Magic, will receive 1 FREE Welcome Deck of their choice, while supplies last. Should Welcome decks be available still from past sets, those too may be selected. We encourage new players attending a few learn 2 play sessions (at least 2) and then attending Deck Building events to further enhance their skills. Players must enroll using a Wizards Account to qualify to keep promotional materials; guest account entries are not eligible. Promotional materials are available while supplies last.
