- What Is Magic Academy? Magic Academy is a beginner-friendly event series that teaches new players how to play Magic: The Gathering. Through guided sessions participants get hands-on experience with support from staff or mentors in a fun, low-pressure environment. We suggest new players attend at least 1, preferably 2 Learn 2 Play sessions before attending any Deck Building Sessions. Even seasoned players may pick up some tips or tricks others use by attending Deck Building sessions in our more casual environment compared to the competitive nature offered at other venues in the area. Learn 2 Play and Deck Building Sessions will be offered in tandum on the same days and at the same times so that players that wish to do so may work on either skill.
