- Ever wanted to play Magic: The Gathering but don’t know where to start? Don’t know the rules, what to buy, or who to play with? Come by this Saturday, September 19th, anytime between 12–7 PM for an official FREE Magic Academy Learn To Play event. No charge & no experience needed. This is for new players! We’ll sit down with you, walk you through the basics, and teach you how to play the game. We’ll also go over the two most common formats people play: Standard and Commander. We’ll show you how to download and use the free Magic Companion app, which gives you access to rules, life counters, nearby events, event sign-ins, and more. Once you’ve learned the basics, we’ll send you home with everything two people need to start playing Magic together, completely FREE.
